Chapter 5 in How to Keep Your Research Project on Track, 2024, pp 36-42 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Many people, maybe most people, have the luxury of pursuing their doctoral studies full time. Some of us, on the other hand, have full-time jobs or careers that we need to keep and these are often not near the university at which we wish to study. So this puts us in the group of those who jealously guard every moment of our intermittent free time to devote to our studies and who need a university that can support part-time and distance students. Such a one was I. More than just a little, since the university I was studying at was in the UK, but I was on the faculty of an American university, 3000 miles away.
