Dealing with diversity in anthropology of education: some critical notes

Abstract: This chapter discusses some approaches to the integration of immigrant children in compulsory education in Spain based on my academic research and consultancy experience. It builds on contemporary critical anthropology and anthropology of education, engaging with the reexamination of two key concepts: culture and action, as seen through the lens of practice theory. I emphasize the importance of restoring the heterogeneity and contextualization of studied social processes, highlighting the active role of subjects, as well as the socio-relational foundations of their practical dispositions and experience.
