Abstract: Case studies are important tools in researching the past in organisations and its complex relationship with other constructs in organisational studies. Case studies employ traditional and non-traditional research methods within the field. The benefits as well as the limitations of case studies are highlighted, and examples of how case studies are used in historical organisational studies are provided.
