Abstract: The cultural history approach emphasises the idea of cultures in the plural, proposing a broad ‘cultural turn’ whose extension influenced the ‘historic turn’ in organisational studies. Cultural history has been the arena where sophisticated discussions of historical methods have taken place. A methodological itinerary has been proposed, illuminating a historiography as a kind of discourse on the ‘other’ (Certeau 1988). The relations between social place and historical discourse would be fundamental to this ‘making history’, by reflecting the epistemological status and ontological constitution of historiographical discourse itself.
