Abstract: Digital archives capture a diverse range of electronic records, from digitised analogue materials to born-digital sources such as emails and websites. While traditional archival principles remain relevant, digital archives introduce new challenges and opportunities in preservation, accessibility and research methods. This entry provides a definition of digital archives before introducing relevant methodological principles and discussing the influence of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. It also explores how digital archives are reshaping research practices in management and organisational history, highlighting both the potential for methodological innovation and the barriers to broader adoption.
