Abstract: The events-based approach offers a way to study organisation as a temporal phenomenon. It posits that organisational phenomena emerge and persist through the collective and continuous configuration and redefinition of past, present and future events. These temporalities play an important role in the organisational dynamics as they define a shared history, a common experience of the present and an anticipated future for actors. The events-based approach can be structured around four key concepts (event, actual moment, structure of events and immanent temporal trajectory), and it has been applied in various empirical contexts.
