Feminist microhistory

Abstract: Feminist microhistory is a particular reading of microhistory through feminist standpoint theory, which emphasises microhistory as critical knowledge production (Lantela 2024). Feminist microhistory focuses on ‘marginal’ knowledge, which can be found from the fringes of hierarchical privilege and power, referring to insights of people who have not been in the seat of power in organisations (e.g., women or people of colour), or from alternative sources in comparison to corporate archives, such as diaries and letters. However, what counts as ‘marginal’ needs always to be contextually justified.
