Abstract: Historical consciousness examines how individuals’ understanding of the past shapes their awareness of their place within time. This concept has evolved across disciplines, including management and organisation studies (MOS) and management and organisation history (MOH), where the impact of historical context on organisational practices is explored. This entry traces the development of historical consciousness, from its philosophical roots to its application in MOS and MOH, and discusses future research directions, particularly in enhancing reflexivity in researchers and expanding the concept to new fields.
