Abstract: Historical imagination is a methodological approach in organizational historical research that combines rigorous source analysis with empathetic understanding of past experiences. Based on the work of the well-known philosopher of history R.G. Collingwood and aligned with microhistorical methodological practices, historical imagination provides a framework for historians to reconstruct and interpret past events, experiences and mentalities. This approach is particularly valuable for organizational and management historians seeking to understand phenomena such as innovation, aesthetics and lived experiences in historical contexts.
