Abstract:
Social network analysis (SNA) is an interdisciplinary approach that studies social systems by analysing the structure of interactions, relationships and positions among individuals, groups and organisations. By incorporating historical perspectives, historical social network analysis (HSNA) enables the study of organisational phenomena by examining the evolution of the networks in which they are embedded over time. The distinctiveness of HSNA lies in its ability to combine SNA's focus on measuring the structural characteristics of relations between entities with historical approaches’ sensitivity to the experiences of people and their change over time.
