Abstract: A critical reflection of the management and organization studies (MOS) domain shows two categories of scholarship for academics from non-Western contexts: amnestic and anamnestic. In amnestic scholarship non-Western academics focus predominantly, if not exclusively, on Western theories and paradigms in their scientific pursuits for reasons of control, integration in the academic community and career progression. In contrast, anamnestic scholars advocate for the development of autochthonous theories and paradigms using their contexts in scientific pursuits. In this entry, I extend the focus to include academics from Western contexts. This comprehensive and inclusive approach is important for MOS.
