Abstract: The life story method builds upon individual or collective life stories to construct a narrative that captures the social, historical and organisational dynamics of a group. Rooted in biographical and sociological traditions, it allows researchers to explore the intersection of personal experiences and collective memory. This method is useful in historical organisation studies, where it reveals how individual and group identities shape and are shaped by social structures in their lifetime. Its applications span diverse domains from labour studies to community empowerment, demonstrating its capacity to connect micro-level experiences with macro-level historical and organisational analyses.
