Abstract:
Ranking indicators can be facts-based or represent information drawn from surveys that capture others’ views on several issues. In the world of league tables, ‘reputation’ is a core component of universities’ performances in such rankings. This chapter delves deeper into QS's approach to collect information on academic and employment reputation from peer academics and employers respectively. It introduces the reader to the THE Global Academic Reputation Survey, which captures cited scholars’ views on the most reputable institutions across the globe in the domains of teaching and research. In this section, special attention is given to the THE Global Academic Reputation Ranking. The chapter also provides information on the ShanghaiRankings’ Academic Excellence Survey, which captures views on the most reputable journals, conferences, and prizes or awards.
