New research on construction companies and resources in developing countries – a review
George Ofori
Chapter 16 in Research Companion to the Construction Industry in Developing Countries, 2026, pp 420-447 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
After the discussion of the field of Construction in Developing Countries in Chapter 2, where it was suggested that the development of the field had been slow, Chapter 6 considered new research on the field since 2000 to ascertain its current state, focusing on industry-level issues and some contemporary subjects. In this chapter, in discussing the post-2000 research, the focus is on company-level issues and construction resources. It considers how the works have contributed to the established concepts. It is found that the field of Construction in Developing Countries has shown healthy growth in the past two decades. The works have built on the previous literature. As in Chapter 6, it is found that the problems of the industries identified in the “traditional” body of knowledge on the field remain. Thus, there is the need for further guided development of the field.
