Chapter 33 in Research Handbook on Sport in Europe, 2026, pp 361-369 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter concludes the book. It starts with a reminder about its aim, intention, focus and the EU Work Plan for Sport as a source of inspiration. This led to the inclusion of its three priority areas – namely, protecting the integrity and values of sport, its socio-economic and environmental dimensions, and the promotion of participation – in three distinct parts of the book. These were preceded by a part on the foundations of sport in Europe and followed by a part on new technologies and sport. Overall, the five parts comprised 31 key topics covered in 31 chapters. This chapter provides the main contributions of the different chapters and in particular how they can inform policies, practice and future research. Final remarks conclude the chapter.
