Chapter 33 in Elgar Encyclopedia of International Sanctions, 2025, pp 116-118 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Why are US sanctions against Cuba still in place despite their broad opposition in and outside the island and the counterproductive effect of helping the authoritarian regime to survive? This entry provides an overview of the evolution of US–Cuban relations, the types of sanctions, their effects and the reasons for their continuity today.
