Chapter 1 in A Research Agenda for Economic Geography, 2025, pp 1-12 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
As an introduction to this book, this chapter provides an overview of what we see as the central themes of a future economic geography research agenda. At the core of this agenda, as represented in various ways in this book, is the need to reframe key economic geographic concepts to more effectively analyze 21st century capitalism. As demonstrated in the following chapters, this necessitates paradigmatic, geospatial, and methodological reframing to address key societal challenges, emerging economic geographies, and technological and geopolitical transformations.
