Leading change: one leadership team's experience

Janet McCollum and Kenneth L. Murrell

Chapter 13 in Cases in Organization Development and Change, 2026, pp 120-129 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Major Focus of the Case: Leaders live in an environment that demands constant change from themselves, their team, and their organization. On the one hand, leaders are well aware of the risks and detrimental effects that an unsuccessful change effort has on their organization. On the other hand, leaders appreciate that change is required for their organization's continued success. The challenge that leaders face is how to develop the organization's capacity to change and become adept at changing while maintaining a high level of performance. This case study examines how one leader and his team developed the capacity to become change adept while maintaining, and in fact improving, the organization's level of performance.
