Introduction to Culture Based Development
Annie Tubadji ()
A chapter in Culture Based Development, 2025, pp 1-7 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Why do we need the Culture-Based Development (CBD) paradigm—and why is there no substitute for it? This introduction presents the current state of economics, with a focus on cultural economics, and explains the motivation behind the creation of the CBD approach. CBD was developed to address cultural biases in economics in a way that no existing framework does. Namely, this introduction depicts how and why CBD combines the accuracy and wisdom on understanding culture from various disciplines and translates it in in the precision standards that modern economics requires.
