Beyond competition: co-operation, collusion and agglomeration
.
Chapter 10 in Entrepreneurship and the Market Economy, 2024, pp 231-246 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter examines the role of co-operation in entrepreneurial activity. The focus is on co-operation through sharing information. Entrepreneurs need people who possess relevant information to share it with them, because they need to synthesise information to identify potential profit opportunities. They can access such information through joining clubs and engaging in social activities. In general, they need to position themselves strategically in networks of confidential information flow. Family background, educational background, and a range of other social and cultural characteristics influence their access to such networks.
