Abstract: Latin American societies, alongside those in the broader Global South, are undergoing transformations shaped by deepening global interconnection. Scientific and techno-communicational changes advance at exponential rates, while political systems struggle to manage them at far slower, linear speeds. Within this context, scientific knowledge has become increasingly specialized, functional, and fragmented across disciplines. The contemporary world confronts a multidimensional polycrisis encompassing socio-economic, ecological, cultural, and political dimensions. Developing an innovative analytical framework requires examining national and regional transformations through the lens of emerging global and national power structures, which are themselves intertwined with rapid shifts in knowledge production and circulation. These dynamics unfold within a temporality characterized by instantaneity, artificiality, and algorithmic intelligence. This chapter argues that alternative development pathways must integrate informational, ecological, and political transformation while centering human rights and human dignity as foundational principles.
