Introduction to Creating Scientific Knowledge
Albert N. Link
Chapter 1 in Creating Scientific Knowledge, 2026, pp 1-17 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This introductory chapter discusses the purpose of the book: to explore the role of public and private innovation that enhances the creation of scientific knowledge. More specifically, the book develops the following paradigm: external knowledge innovation → creation of scientific knowledge and then creation of scientific knowledge → spillover of scientific knowledge into society. The importance for a book on this topic is emphasized, sources and concepts of knowledge are offered both in an evolutionary manner and as an aspect of cluster theory, and a chapter-by-chapter outline is presented with an emphasis on the data used throughout.
