Concluding observations to Creating Scientific Knowledge

Chapter 11 in Creating Scientific Knowledge, 2026, pp 117-118 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Chapter 11 is a summary statement. The purpose of this book is to explore the role of public and private innovation—external innovation—that enhances the creation of scientific knowledge. Toward fulfilling this purpose, I proposed the following paradigm: external knowledge innovation → creation of scientific knowledge and then creation of scientific knowledge → spillover of scientific knowledge into society. And, through correlative analysis, I offered empirical evidence to support this paradigm. Future research should continue to explore the economics of knowledge and develop a more complete model of the generation of new knowledge as a circular process that consists in the recombination of existing knowledge items.
