Abstract:
Chapter 2 relies on data from the AEGIS (Advancing Knowledge-Intensive Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Growth and Social Well-being in Europe) project to explore the role of external public and private innovation in the creation of scientific knowledge. The AEGIS project is discussed, and descriptive information about knowledge-intensive entrepreneurial (KIE) firms and their activities is summarized. Also presented are dimensions of the manifestation of each firm's created scientific knowledge.
