University activity: a knowledge innovation
Albert N. Link
Chapter 8 in Creating Scientific Knowledge, 2026, pp 86-96 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The analysis in Chapter 8 suggests that a relationship with a university either among knowledge-intensive entrepreneurial (KIE) firms or firms funded through the U.S. Department of Defense's (DOD) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a research relationship that is not frequently pursued. Perhaps the reason for this finding is that the survey questions are either too broadly focused or too narrowly focused. Or perhaps the reason is that small firms are not yet aware of the human capital and/or technical capital housed within a university.
