University-based knowledge innovation: human capital and technical capital

Albert N. Link

Chapter 9 in Creating Scientific Knowledge, 2026, pp 97-106 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Chapter 9 considers a knowledge production function in terms of internal human capital, internal technical capital, external human capital, and external technical capital. The data show that patenting and publishing are generally associated with a firm's endowments of human and technical capital, but the likelihood that a firm will commercialize is not.
