Abstract:
Connecting Nature was a €12 million European research project which aimed to support cities with the large-scale implementation of nature-based solutions (NbS) to address societal challenges. Coordinated by a transdisciplinary research team from the Centre for Social Innovation and the School of Natural Sciences in Trinity College Dublin, Connecting Nature involved more than 30 partners from 14 countries. The consortium brought together researchers from different disciplines alongside local government organisations, practitioners and non-governmental organisations. Together, this consortium deployed co-production and reflexive monitoring methodologies as key tools for transdisciplinary research. Over the five-year project duration, partners co-created, piloted and replicated the Connecting Nature Framework leading to large-scale, enduring and embedded approaches to NbS implementation in an urban context.
