Abstract: In this chapter, we reflect on the eight TDR initiatives presented in Part II. Each has described how scholars in different settings inquired into the practice, the process, the questioning, the reflection and the learning that comes with experiencing transdisciplinary action and research. First, we outline briefly the approach we have taken to develop this synthesis. Then, we present evidence of TDR in practice as demonstrated in the eight initiatives before taking a step back to compare and contrast the practice and underlying features of TDR in each initiative. We move then to position the features of TDR in evidence in relation to the motivation for this book, the literature and underlying philosophy outlined in the first three chapters. Here, we develop our emerging contribution in terms of the scope of transdisciplinary inquiry, the methodology, quality considerations and learning mechanisms. We bring these various themes together into a Framework (Figure 12.2) that illustrates the interrelationships between the different elements.
