Georgios Pavlidis

Chapter 3 in The EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive and Regulation, 2026, pp 45-50 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter comments on Article 3 of the Sixth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (EU) 2024/1640, which obliges Member States to identify sectors particularly exposed to money laundering and terrorist financing. It explains the procedure for notification to the Commission, possible suspension of measures pending Union review, and the issuance of Commission opinions. The chapter also covers national and Union-level follow-up actions, publication of sector lists, and continuity with previous extensions under AMLD4.
