Abstract: In this chapter we explore the cost of living crisis, the global Covid-19 pandemic and environmental crisis in relation to breathing and air. We situate our explorations within the context of a co-produced project called Cripping Breath. We suggest that paying attention to breath highlights particular challenges faced by chronically ill and disabled people living in precarious and turbulent times. However, we also argue that breathing is essential for all human life, and therefore equitable access to air is a biological, social and ethical issue that matters to us all.
