Abstract: This chapter looks at the history of the neurodiversity movement, its challenges, and its future. In today's climate of fear and intolerance, the authors encourage scholars, activists, and professionals to think about their role in shaping the movement. Future directions include Chapman's idea of “Neurodivergent Power” which focuses on fighting systemic inequality rather than mere inclusion within existing structures. Finally, the authors suggest linking neurodiversity with environmental justice by recognising diversity not only across humans, but also across animals and ecosystems. Such an orientation expands the acceptance of difference, opens up ecologically grounded ways of thinking about justice and survival, and makes the movement more inclusive.
