Abstract:
The chapter provides an introduction to and overview of the edited volume entitled Rethinking Economic Transformation for Sustainable and Inclusive Development: Turning a Corner? It addresses the imperative to reimagine development pathways and make headway in economic and social progress and environmental stewardship. The chapter provides a summary of the current state of affairs, assesses the impediments to swifter progress towards economically, socially and environmentally sustainable societies and brings together a number of policies required to advance green structural transformation, including the need to create and implement comprehensive and coordinated policy frameworks, design bold industrial policies and foster accompanying labour market and social policies and regulatory frameworks to ensure that the process is just.
