Abstract: Article 6: Right to a fair trial concerns the Court's case-law principles with regard to Article 6, notably the right to a tribunal for the “determination of civil rights and obligations”, the right to a tribunal in respect of “criminal charges”, the right to a court, including the right of access to a court, institutional guarantees, procedural aspects (the right to a fair hearing, the right to a decision within a reasonable time), the right to a public hearing and public delivery of judgment, the presumption of innocence and the various rights of the defence guaranteed in Article 6(3) such as the right to be informed of the accusation, the right to defend oneself in person, legal representation, trials in absentia and others.
