Abstract: This chapter presents a comprehensive literature review examining the key challenges that hinder trust in the construction industry and explores potential strategies for building trust among stakeholders in developing countries. The findings show that distrust from investors, the public, and employees significantly impacts the growth and stability of construction firms. Corruption and weak regulatory frameworks undermine public–private collaboration and erode trust in government institutions. Additionally, concerns related to quality and safety, contractual disputes, and communication barriers between stakeholders weaken confidence in the industry's integrity. A proposed framework for managing trust requires comprehensive efforts to strengthen regulatory mechanisms, enhance transparency and accountability, promote ethical business practices, and invest in skills development. Fostering trust in institutions, firms, and professionals involved in construction projects creates a more reliable environment, ultimately lowering costs and attracting investment for further infrastructure development.
