Abstract:
This chapter explores the factors influencing customers’ purchase intention regarding sustainable business model components of Islamic banking in Malaysia. Data were collected from Islamic banking customers using a survey and analyzed with partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results show that maximizing material and energy efficiency, organizational culture, awareness, higher objectives of Islamic law (maqāsid al-Shariah) and functions positively impact customers’ purchasing intention. Embracing the components of the sustainable business model enhances the Islamic banking industry by fostering innovation and enabling systematic research into sustainable banking practices. The findings of this study could help develop a comprehensive model that improves the sustainability of Islamic banks through a sustainable business model, guiding society and customers towards a sustainable Islamic banking framework for business operations.
