AI and humanity anew: can we flourish in harmony?

Abstract: The relationship between humanity and technology has always been reciprocal: each shapes the other. As artificial intelligence (AI) systems become embedded in daily life, the pressing question is not whether superintelligent machines will emerge, but what kind of humanity we choose to cultivate alongside them. Rather than focusing on technology lifecycle narratives, this chapter examines three dimensions of human experience: Knowing, Doing, and Being – each transcends time, culture, and role. Integrating these dimensions into discussions of human-AI symbiosis is not abstract philosophy; it is a practical necessity for sustaining human agency, meaning, and flourishing. Without such integration, we risk building a world that is efficient but hollow, informed but unwise. If we invest as deeply in understanding and elevating ourselves as we do in developing and engaging with technology, we shape the possibility of a future in which AI and humanity may flourish in harmony. The real question is – are we?
