Applying human quantum mechanics to economics: an introduction to communication-based economics
Christian Aspalter
Chapter 2 in Quantum Economics, 2025, pp 16-27 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter introduces the reader to the core of quantum theory as developed in this book. The core postulate in quantum economics (the particular interpretation thereof by the author) is that not people, but their communications are the quanta (atoms) of economics. Nothing in economics happens without communication. While Ludwig von Mises mostly kept his focus on human action, he also noted the most important and inseparable nature of human thoughts and, therefore, human communications in general. The author of this book shifts the theoretical focus onto human thoughts, feelings, and human decisions, and particularly their stealthily hidden causal factors: human entanglements. The chapter will connect the works of Niklas Luhmann with the insights of John Stuart Mill, Joseph A. Schumpeter, and (in physics) Jonathan Oppenheim.
