Abstract: Simon Kingham is Professor of Human Geography at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. In this chapter, Simon responds to a number of research-related questions, grouped under a total of 11 themes: (1) motivation; (2) research ideas and execution; (3) collaboration; (4) funding; (5) supervision; (6) publication; (7) reviewing and editing; (8) conferences and seminars; (9) communication and research impact; (10) time management; and (11) reflections and the future of transport research. Among other aspects, Simon reflects on his passion for teaching, not being a perfectionist, and the importance of policy relevant research.
