Abstract: Jennifer Dill is a Professor in the Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning at Portland State University in the United States. In this chapter, Jennifer responds to a number of research-related questions, grouped under a total of 11 themes: (1) motivation; (2) research ideas and execution; (3) collaboration; (4) funding; (5) supervision; (6) publication; (7) reviewing and editing; (8) conferences and seminars; (9) communication and research impact; (10) time management; and (11) reflections and the future of transport research. Among other aspects, Jennifer reflects on the need for having a clear conceptual model when doing research, the value of professional experience and the importance of real-world impact in research.
