Chapter 12 in Constructive Intercultural Management, 2026, pp 214-229 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this chapter, we emphasize the predominant role that culture plays for the development of organizations in the global VUCA world. Organizational development is a human-centred approach and concerns the designing of change processes. The aim is to create a favourable environment within organizations to respond to external and internal pressure for change, to foster individual and organizational learning and to provide opportunities for sustainable future development. Conceptions of organizational development show significant differences across cultures, and it is essential to adopt appropriate instruments, methods and practices to meet local expectations. Intercultural organizational development focuses on the integration of cultural aspects to shape interculturality in a constructive way.
