Abstract:
The development of renewable energy affects not only the structure of the energy mix of the economy but also the socioeconomic development of the European economy. As mentioned in previous chapters, the development of renewable energy in the European Union (EU), including in industry, is part of EU legislation on carbon neutrality. It finds its opponents and supporters. Opponents of the Green Deal believe that the development of renewable energy imposes significant costs in economic and social terms. In contrast, enthusiasts for the promotion of green energy have the opposite opinion. They believe that the benefits are not only environmental but also economic and social. Moreover, they point out that they are particularly evident in energy-intensive sectors of the economy, such as industry. So, what are the economic and social effects of implementing renewable energy in the European economy, including industry? This chapter will provide an answer to this question.
