Abstract: An increasing financialization of housing is being observed globally. This chapter provides a brief overview of financialization and its relation to housing. Despite the vagueness of the concept, it explains why financialization is used as an umbrella term. Moreover, the importance of specific contexts is highlighted in order to better understand different forms of resistance. Different entry points for resisting the financialization of housing are presented. These include the role of institutions, the broader economic context and the dynamics of financialization therein, as well as the role of social movements, grassroots initiatives, and neighbourhood-based action. It is concluded that, first, entry points should be analysed in an integrated way. Second, processes of financialization and resistance must be understood as multi-level processes. Third, understanding the capitalist dynamics and contradictions is crucial not only for academic analysis but also for providing a systematic basis for reflecting different strategies of resisting the financialization of housing.
