Introduction to Against Amnesia

Abstract: The aim of this English edition is to present, from a personal perspective, the origins of the French-speaking administrative sciences field since the first reflections carried out at the beginning of the nineteenth century by Saint-Simon, to highlight its contributions, originality, influence, and the main challenges it faces today. While the first two parts seek to recall the origins of the field of organisational studies and administrative sciences in France and to highlight its main features, the third and final part focuses on identifying its originality and international influence. The objective is not to provide an exhaustive summary of French-language production, but rather to present the main intellectual highlights and to place them in a historical context spanning more than two centuries, which is closely linked to the development of the social sciences themselves and the changes that our societies have undergone and continue to undergo since the advent of the industrial revolution.
