Chapter 6 in Artificial Intelligence in Postgraduate Research Methodology, 2026, pp 117-135 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter examines the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into research visualization methods, focusing on both theory and practice. It highlights how AI-enhanced tools, such as Napkin AI, improve the representation and interpretation of complex data, boosting researchers’ analytical abilities. Beginning with theoretical frameworks, the chapter explores AI visualization's role in linking cognitive and computational data analysis. It then compares current AI visualization tools, assessing their features and limitations across research contexts. Additionally, the chapter discusses pedagogical uses, showing how AI-driven visualization supports research skill development and methodological literacy. By combining theory with empirical analysis, it advocates for adopting AI visualization to enhance data interpretation and knowledge sharing. Ultimately, the chapter emphasizes AI's transformative impact on research paradigms, serving as a key resource for academics aiming to innovate their methodological approaches.
