Postscript

Anne Vorre Hansen, Clara Dawe and Anders Folmer Buhelt

A chapter in The Power of Collective Action, 2026, pp 122-123 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: In this postscript, we reflect upon the historical context of writing the book in the ‘Year of Democracy’. On the one hand, democracy as a societal form is under pressure, and on the other hand, this also opens up the opportunity for a revitalised discussion of what democracy means to us, what it is that we want to protect and how we can ensure a lively democratic debate. Lastly, the postscript pinpoints how social innovation is a way to ensure resilient democracies, as social innovation is inherently democratic and democracies are resilient per se.
