Abstract: ASEAN–China relations play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Asian economy. This ERIA report delves into the challenges arising from the evolution of the digital economy, the restructuring of Global Value Chains (GVCs), and Asia’s transition to a green economy, while envisioning the emergence of ASEAN–China Free Trade Area 3.0. Within these pages, regional experts offer insights into the primary trends reshaping the global landscape. Building upon these observations, they present key policy recommendations that should be on policymakers’ radar when undertaking the task of upgrading the existing ACFTA. Notably, these policy suggestions hold relevance beyond ASEAN–China relations and are equally applicable to other ASEAN Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
