Abstract:
Investments in green and zero-emission initiatives are vital for decarbonising Asian economies. Equally crucial, given the region’s diverse economic and social contexts, are transition activities – efforts that deliver significant emissions reductions from existing sources within defined timeframes. Despite their importance, financing for such activities remains limited across Asia, partly due to insufficient information for financial institutions to assess relevant technologies. To accelerate decarbonisation finance, clear standards and guidelines are needed to align capital flows with pathways toward net-zero CO₂ emissions. To help address this gap, ERIA’s Asia Zero Emission Center (AZEC) has developed the Technology List and Perspectives for Transition Finance in Asia (TLP). This publication offers a comprehensive overview of essential technologies for decarbonisation across all sectors – from upstream production to end-use – and evaluates transition technologies based on key criteria such as emissions reduction potential, affordability, and technological maturity and reliability.
