Abstract: Financial exclusion and overindebtedness are of increasing importance in Irish social policy, particularly now with the onset of the economic recession. This study provides baseline information on the extent of financial exclusion in Ireland, covering bank current accounts, credit, savings and home insurance. It also details the extent of household overindebtedness and the underlying risk factors.
