Abstract: Based on the finding that most research focused on the evaluation of the leader’s performance through results and by identifying the fundamental traits that a leader has, we aim through this paper to make an assessment of the leader from the perspective of the his capabilities. By using this approach we consider that we can appreciate the capacity to perform the potential data. We are studying the following potential components of the leader: the emotional potential - self-knowledge, self-control, relationship management, social awareness; thesocial potential - sense of situation, attitude, clarity, empathy, authenticity; the cognitive potential - logical reasoning, symbolic reasoning, concentration, memory; the practical potential - four mega-skiluri, four habits (skills, abilities) key; the spiritual potential - the ability to understand the truth of the situation, assess the truth of the situation, the ability to act according to the truth of the situation. The method of assessment used is based on a questionnaire research. We created a questionnaire with 25 questions, which was addressed to the top management of 20 companies. The questionnaire was given to a number of 200 subjects. The purpose of the research was to assess the capacity of the leaders to perform, the potential data and how it correlates with the performance of companies in which leaders operate. The study concludes that performances of companies are positively correlated with the capabilities of leaders but not exclusively. Potential generally understood as a synthesis of personality traits and capabilities developed, in our opinion, is the fundamental criterion in the selection and assessment of performance leader.
