Abstract: Regional agreements widely differ one from another, but they have all a common objective: to lower trade barriers among their member states and enhance economic growth, development and reduce poverty. Developing countries such as those of MERCOSUR or CEFTA are encouraged to form regional trade integration because of the possibility to access a larger market and the potential utilities that are available in the group of higher external tariffs. Regional economic integration can benefit developing countries by inducing bith economic and political cooperation that can consequently lead to higher economic growth and wellbeing. This paper analyzes the effects of regional economic integration formation among developing countries on the example of MERCOSUR and CEFTA.
